Friends, Bridges and Ice Cream

The Eau Claire half marathon was named the #5 best half marathon in the country in the 2018 BibRave top 100! I had the opportunity to run this race last year and can truly see why it has earned this honor! I'm excited to go back and run this race again in 2019 with my friends from BibRave!
pre race 2018
Many of you know, on my quest to run in every state, I very rarely will run a race twice. I'd rather run new places, meet new people and see new courses. Every once in a while I will make an exception and run a course a second time. I loved Eau Claire last year and when the opportunity came up to run with the crew from BibRave, it didn't take much to convince me! (last year's race recap here) Sunday May 5th, the Crazy Hamster will be running the streets and trails of Eau Claire once again!
Why would I run this race 2 years in a row?
There are a few reasons!
1st - Friends!
I made some amazing friends last year! Not only did we spend the morning running together, laughing and having fun, we stayed in touch after the race and have even found time to run together at other races! Right after the race, we made plans to come back in 2019 and make it even better! But not only am I meeting up with friends I met at last years race, several of the amazing ladies that I run with here in Green Bay are joining us for the race too! I love when my old friends and new friends come together! EPIC things can happen!
2nd - Bridges! The 13.1 miles of the half marathon crosses 11 bridges in and around Eau Claire! The course follows roads as well as the local bike trains, following the beauty of the river and along the infamous Water Street and thru the campus of UWEC where the BluGold Mile will give with the motivation to get through those last few miles!
3rd - Ice Cream!! Last year, when Aubree and I were nearing the road leading back to Carson Park and the finish line, we had to run right past the Dairy Queen on the corner. After 12 miles and a morning that turned very humid, ice cream sounded amazing, but neither of us had money on us. We made a deal that morning that we were coming back in 2019 to run together again and were stopping at DQ for ice cream before we headed back up the hill into the park! Our mission this year - cross the finish line with ice cream!
4th - Yes, I'm adding a 4th! FREE race pics! I love seeing a race that treats it's runners well and offers free race pics! Last year we had so much fun with the race photographers on the course and ended up with some EPIC photos! We plan to do the same again this year! Thank you EC marathon for allowing us to get awesome race pics and save the money we would have spent on pics on more race entries!!
Thank you EC Marathon for everything you do and I can't wait to see you all in May for this years race!!!
Hope to see you in Eau Claire!
