Charity Runner

Charity Chasers

Charity Chasers is a fun and unique way to help raise funds for a designated charity or community cause. A "celebrity" runner, in this case, Jeffrey Bergeman (with a little help from his dad,) will begin the Eau Claire Marathon approximately 15 minutes BEHIND the field of runners, with the goal being to catch up and pass as many other marathon participants as possible!

Individuals and businesses can choose the amount they would like to pledge per person passed, and if they wish, may also set a maximum donation amount they would be comfortable with on their pledge (i.e. $1/person passed up to $1,000). Following the completion of the race and to ensure accuracy in calculating the total number of people passed the Eau Claire Marathon, with the assistance of Pickle Events Timing Company, will review the chip timing data from all the marathon runners bibs. Donors will then be contacted with their total amount due per their committed pledge. Anyone wishing to contribute outside of the pledge parameters, either in excess of their amount due or via a straight donation instead of pledge per people passed, will, of course, be allowed to make a direct donation of any amount via the Eau Claire Marathon Charity Chaser's fundraising platform.

Honoring Cheri Uelmen

Proceeds from this race will benefit Life's AMAZING! Pass it on! in honor of Cheri Uelmen. Cheri was in the front of the pack in local inline marathons, half marathons, and bike Races. She was known in the community as a beloved first grade teacher, fitness instructor, mother, grandmother, and friend. Tragedy struck the Eau Claire community when, in September 2014, Cheri Uelmen passed away due to a bike accident.

Cheri's last gift to the world was her selfless registration as an organ donor. Since Cheri was in such amazing shape, she had the opportunity to help many people with the gift of her healthy organs. The Eau Claire Marathon and it's supporters plan to work closely with the UW - Organ and Tissue Donation group to educate and build awareness for this special cause.

Girls on the Run Eau Claire

Chippewa Valley's Girls on the Run (GOTR) is excited to announce "If the Shoe Fits... Run," a two-year-old program sponsored by the Eau Claire Marathon. Thanks to our generous sponsor, "If the Shoe Fits... Run" partnered with Scheels to give GOTR members whose families have financial constraints the ability to acquire shoes free or at a reduced cost.

Race director Pat Toutant explains Eau Claire Marathon's support of GOTR "As soon as we saw the expressions of gratitude and excitement on the girls faces we knew this was the type of cause we want to be involved with... not only this year but for years to come!

Heart Strides - Two Shoes. One Mission.

Heart Strides' mission is to support Moms during a time when they are least likely to make their health a priority. To achieve this mission, we provide new running shoes to Moms caring for children with a critical/chronic illness or a special need.

Making our health a priority is the best gift we could give, not only to ourselves, but to those around us. With the right gear; like proper running shoes, tech shirts, running socks and community; we can help our Moms move in the right direction.

Wherever they are when they lace up, Moms will know that they are not alone and that Heart Strides is with them every step of the way!

Oasis for Orphans
Oasis for Orphans

Oasis for Orphans utilizes a unique model to develop kids in a holistic way

The program gives children hope and molds them into leaders in their communities and for the kingdom. Focusing on the 110,000 orphans in six counties in rural southwest Kenya, the holistic program centers around the physical, spiritual, educational, and social development of the children.

The mission places high value on children's recognition of their worth and purpose as children of God.
