Eau Claire Marathon News

Mark your calendar for May 6th - 7th, 2017!

2016 turned out to be even bigger and better than 2014 and 2015.  The addition of the Eau Claire Marathon Expo presented by Stifel Investments was a huge success.  40 vendors including Scheels, Clif, Asic, Lululemon, Fiesty Fit, Ivivva, Indianhead Track Club and Mayo Health Systems were jam packed from start to finish.

The Cheri Uelmen's Fantastically Fun Kids' Run was a huge success with the addition of the Diaper Dash.  Over 330 kids raced for a medal and a chance to stay active!

Sunday's weather was perfect for a PR!  We had 35 Marathon runners who qualified for Boston as well as over 1800 Half Marathons and 200 Relay Teams enjoy the day.  With the addition of our new app presented by C&M Home Builders and Real Estate, spectators were able to track their runners throughout the course.  David Luy, overall Marathon winner and new course record holder, has his parents at the finish line tracking him.  They were not familiar with the streets of Eau Claire so they decided to stick at the finish line and just track his process.

Hard to believe but the Blugold Mile was even LOUDER than last year!  2nd place Marathon Finisher, Alexander states:

"The crowd and the cheers on campus were as good as Boylston Street in Boston.  They were so loud and everyone was energetic."

Following the Blugold Mile, runners got to run down a busy Water Street, thanks to Visit Eau Claire, and then finish through the "Musical Mile" which consisted of 7 local bands and choirs from the Eau Claire Area.

After running through the finish line, runners and spectators enjoyed some food and drinks thanks to Festival Foods, Silver Springs and Park Ridge Distributing in our Food and Beer Tent.

Now the countdown to next year starts!
