FEET-URED RUNNER: Chris with A PR in the New Year

“Going into the new year I wanted a resolution that I knew could push me to the limit and hold me accountable. How about a goal of 13.1?!  I've only really started running roughly 2 years ago, but felt I had enough base to conquer the distance. I heard how spectator friendly and festive this race is, and Eau Clarie showed up! I thought for sure there would be some dead space at the halfway point, anticipating running alone with just my thoughts. But that was not the case, and as the miles ticked by, I felt so many different emotions. My proudest was most definitely coming to the finish. It reminded me of a quote I once heard, "My medals aren't just earned on race day; they're earned on early mornings,  afternoons, holidays, busy at work, and when I'd rather sleep in." My goal in all this was part personal - setting a fitness goal for myself - but partly to show others it can be possible for them too. Do the hard thing. Set tough goals. Don’t say ‘I can’t’ before you even get started. In fact, next year I intend to show up and ring that PR bell stronger and faster.”
