Join us for the Cheri Uelmen's Fantastically Fun Kids’ Run, Saturday, May 1st, 2027 at Carson Park - an obstacle course including tire hop, balance beam, spider web and more!
There is a “half” obstacle course geared for 2-5 year olds and a “full” distance course for 5-10+ year olds. Youth running will receive a race t-shirt, runners bib, a finisher's medal, plus other goodies.
The Diaper Dash is perfect for mini marathoners! Our youngest participants will run, walk, or crawl a short distance to earn their very own race medal. Each child will receive a race shirt and bib too.
Up for a Challenge?
Take Cheri's Crazy Challenge! Participate in the Fantastically Fun Kids Run on Saturday followed by the Eau Claire Marathon 5K.
Anyone that completes both the Fun Run and the 5K will earn three medals - Fun Run medal, 5K medal and an extra medal for the Cheri's Crazy Challenge!

In Loving Memory of Cheri
In honor of Cheri Uelmen, proceeds from this race will benefit Life's AMAZING! Pass it on! Cheri was in the front pack of many local inline marathons, half marathons, and bike races, pretty much always doing some physical activity. She was well-known in the community for her healthy lifestyle as a beloved first grade teacher, fitness instructor, mother, grandmother, and friend. Tragedy struck the Eau Claire community in September 2014 when Cheri Uelmen passed away due to injuries sustained in a bike accident.
Cheri's last gift to the world was her selfless registration as an organ donor. Since Cheri was in such amazing shape, she had the opportunity to help many people with the gift of her healthy organs.
The Eau Claire Marathon and it's supporters work closely with the UW - Organ and Tissue Donation group to educate and build awareness for this special cause.
Cheri is missed, but her spirit lives on through her gift of organ donation, this exciting event promoting youth running and future charitable causes.
We strive to partner with all local youth running program throughout Western Wisconsin.
