Feet-ured Runner: Theresa Dean

FEET-URED RUNNER: THERESA DEAN

“If you told me 2½ years ago that I’d be crossing a finish line instead of catching my breath walking up a flight of stairs, I would’ve laughed.”

Theresa’s running journey didn’t start with miles — it started with small steps.

She began walking daily, making lifestyle changes, and slowly building confidence. Short walks became longer ones… until one day she asked herself a simple but powerful question: Could I try running?

Her first run?
🏃‍♀️ 60 seconds jogging. 90 seconds walking.
⏱️ 20 total minutes.
And those 60 seconds felt like forever.

Eight weeks later, Theresa signed up for her first race — the ECM Hall-EAU-ween 5K. She didn’t feel ready, but she showed up anyway. With support from family, friends, and her niece running alongside her, she crossed the finish line strong.

Her goals were simple:
✔️ Run the whole time
✔️ Don’t finish last

And she did it.

What surprised her most wasn’t the run — it was the feeling afterward:
Perfect strangers cheering. Encouragement the entire way. A finish line that felt unforgettable.

“Will I do another one? ABSOLUTELY!

👏 Theresa’s story is proof that small steps lead to big results — and that every finish is worth celebrating.
