I love how organized the relay is! Lots of shuttles to get us to the next transition on time. I also am so amazed that they are able to announce each team number coming in, even when there are several runners coming into the next transition at a time. LOVE the relay!

RELAY FAQ

*Sunday, April 28 packet pick will be available in Phoenix Park from 6AM - 7:15AM.

Does each member of the team pick up their packet? No, one member of your team will pick up the team race packet (the team packet will include 4 race shirts, 4 bibs and one relay bracelet). We encourage all relay members to visit the expo!

When does the relay start?  Corral start times are 7:15AM, 7:20AM and 7:25AM, your starting corral will be listed inside your team race packet.

Where are the transitions located?

LEG 2 FINISH/ LEG 3 START: Mile 12.5 - Airport Rd.

How do the relay buses work? The relay buses load along the north side of Galloway Street in the Oxbow Hotel parking lot (516 Galloway St. Eau Claire, Wis) starting at 6:30AM and depart every 10 minutes. The buses will continuously run to each relay exchange zone until the last runners have started their leg from that location.

Do you have to ride the relay bus? We strongly encourage all relay teams to ride the relay buses. There are many road closures on race day that will make it difficult for you to get to the relay exchanges.

Can family ride the relay buses with you?  Yes, but please understand that runners get first priority. Spectators might have to wait for the next bus if it is full with relay runners.

Will we be able to watch and cheer on our teammates? Yes, we encourage team members to stay together at each transition to cheer on the incoming and outgoing runners. As soon as the outgoing runner takes off, jump on the bus and head to the relay exchange.

How will our time be tracked?  There will be a race timing strap in your team packet (each team has one strap). The race strap has the timing chip inside, it must be worn on the ankle of the person running, make sure runner #1 has the strap on when they cross the start line.  At each relay transition area, the strap should be taken off and secured around the ankle of the next runner.  *Failure to wear the timing strap around the ankle at all times may result in missed chip reads which could cause the team to be disqualified.

Will we have to transfer our bib between runners at transitions? No, each team member will have a bib with your team number on it. (This number will match your race strap number.)

Do we have to return the strap? No, you can dispose of it however you please.

Does the order we run in matter? Not for us. Your times will be displayed as Runner 1, Runner 2, Runner 3, and Runner 4, it’s up to you decide your order (it does not have to match the order you signed up).

Are there restrooms at the transition areas? Yes, each relay transition area will have at least two porta potties.

Should we bring our own water bottle? You can bring your own water bottle, but there will be water and gatorade available for finished relay runners at each transition area.

Can we cross the finish line as a team? Yes, meet your last runner at the Lake Street Bridge and run down Graham Avenue together. Please be mindful of other runners around you and SMILE when your team crosses the finish line!

If you run in alone, how do you get your team medals? There will be volunteers waiting with your four team medals.

Questions when you are at transitions? Look for someone in an Eau Claire Marathon volunteer shirt, they will be able to help you.
